Intro and Methods

Anthony Coppola
Introduction
Wondering when to initially invest in the stock market is a troubling question to millions of Americans. The problem with this is there is no one specific answer to this question. Many studies have been done and it is a fact that the earlier you start investing the benefits will be greater. If you invest early it makes retiring early more likely (cnbc). However, when interviewing the president of Capital one Investing he suggests that his clients have roughly six months of savings in the bank before they start investing (Money CNN). This is due to if the market crashes they want their clients to still have money in the bank.
Methods
Participants
For this study the research conducted was from students at the University of Iowa. This study was taken randomly on the campus, involving both males and females. The survey consists of an equal amount of freshman, sophomore, junior, and seniors. The goal of this is to see who invested and when to find the best age to invest in Wall Street.
Procedure
The participants for this experiment took a short online survey that was created on google forums. These questions were simple and included yes or no answers and a few short open ended responses. Overall the survey took under four minutes to complete. The questions were written to figure out when the best age to invest would be and for those invested if they benefited by learning how to handle money.

topic proposal. In your topic proposal,

Business
I propose a study that is over the difference between how many people buy stocks at each grade. ask freshman sophomores, juniors, seniors if they invest in the stock market and compare the data to see the trends of who invests and who does invest.
2 questions
What type of people in each grade are investing?
How is invest benefitting them or hurting them?
To do this I will go to my fraternity house and interview and survey a bunch of the freshman and  upperclassman. Ill ask them my questions and write down what they do anonymously. From there I will place the information into a spreadsheet and create graphs to analyze the data. The goal is to look into and see if investing in the stock market early on is a good thing and see what people learn from investing early.

Write a few paragraphs on how the genre of IMRaD report is different from an argument-based research paper you’ve been writing in English classes. Post it to your blog.

IMRAD stands for introduction, methods, results and Discussion. The IMRAD report tells one how two write and academic paper and our first draft was not an academic piece. In our First major assignment we wrote about a given field and described how to write in the topic. The paper used academic sources with in the paper however, we also had non-academic pieces.
The IMRAD describes tactics to write the academic piece. It gives you the structure of how to write the academic paper. The paper consists of a title, abstract or executive summery, introduction, methods, results, discussion or recommendation, and lastly references. This is very different from the previous paper in how the last draft only included; a title, introduction, body with arguments, a conclusion, and references. The main difference other than not having similar parts between the two is that our last paper was flexible. We were able to add some of our own ideas and not just the facts behind it, we analyzed the topic. This next piece will not have ones on opinion it will be strictly the facts.

outline

Introduction
“If people say your dreams are crazy, if they laugh at what you think can do,.... (pause)  good!” The Nike commercial “believe in something” is a commercial to inspire. It focuses on the determination and the dedication the world should have. It talks about how you can be whatever you want all you have to do is believe.
Purpose
  • To persuade the audience to follow their dreams
  • Actor and narrator Colin Kaepernick
    • He says “believe in something, even if it costs you everything,”
    • Colin explains how you need to fight for what you believe in, when he was in the league he challenge the United States. He believed strongly against police brutality, so to protest before one of his games he went to a knee during the national anthem. This sparked lots of controversy throughout the media and eventually caused him to be fired because he wouldn't stop kneeling for what he believed in.
    • This makes him a great fit for the advertisement

He emphasizes how to be great you just have to believe in yourself.Colin uses wise words and really brings forth the prompt to follow your dreams.
Logos - Colin uses wise words and really brings forth the prompt to follow your dreams. Colin is a persuasive person and his voice is soothing so when he speaks about greatness the words are stressed.

Conclusion
Colin Kaepernick tells us to believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything, just like he did. He gave up his NFL career and since has donated over one million dollars to help kids stand up and push for their dreams. Colin had his time where no one looked up to him, but at the end of darkness their is the light. Colin has reached the light and people are starting to look up to him again. Not as a football star but as a good role model. The final thought Colin leaves us with is” don’t ask if your dreams are crazy, but if they are crazy enough.”
